Looks like my hometown Flyers are done…

Going into the playoff game tonight I thought there was a possibility the Flyers would win. Actually, I was positive they would win. They were on home ice, with fans cheering them on, and the team should have been confident considering the two previous games in the series at Boston were close games(game 1 lost in OT, and game 2 lost by 2 goals but were only down by one until only a few minutes left in the third period).

But then, after five minutes of the first period, those possibilities seemed to diminish. The Flyers scored early in the first period to take their first lead in the series (Asham scored on a 2 on 1). However, Boston decided to start playing and tied the game not too long after the Flyers goal. Then, with the game being tied for all of  1 minute and 30 seconds, Boston took the lead on a mini breakaway goal scored by Satan. And that was that. The Flyers had no energy after Boston took the lead. It seemed as if they only brought enough energy to play a 10 minute game, nothing was clicking at all.

I was hopeful, going into the series against Boston, that the Flyers could still produce goals without their top two players, Gagne and Carter. But, of course, the opposite has happened. Not only can they not score, but needing Briere to play center, has been a defensive liability, which has hurt the Flyers immensely (especially in-game 1). Unless they change-up their game, it seems their season will be ending short.
